This square is building on from last weeks square. We will be using cluster stitches again but this time we will crochet a circle within the square. If you’re new to cluster stitches you may want to check out Granny Square Seven first. If you’re new to circles you may want to try Granny Square Three first.

Yarn – I’m using stylecraft special dk

• Pale Rose

• Vintage Peach

• Toy

• Cream

Hook – 4.5mm

Ch = chain

Ch sp = chain space

Sc = single crochet

Dc = double crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Tr = treble crochet

2cl st = cluster stitch with 2 double crochets

3cl st = cluster stitch with 3 double crochets

Rnd = round

Granny Square #9 with Pale Rose & Cream

Rnd 1: start with a dmc. (Dc, ch1) x 12. Ss to first stitch. Ss to ch sp. (12 stitches & 12 spaces)

Rnd 2: starting in a ch sp. (2cl st, ch1) repeat into each ch sp. Ss to first stitch. Ss to ch sp. (12 stitches & 12 spaces)

Rnd 3: starting in a ch sp. (3cl st, ch2) repeat into each ch sp. Ss to first stitch. Ss to ch sp. (12 stitches & 12 spaces)

Rnd 4: starting in a ch sp. work each set of stitches in brackets into a ch sp. *(sc, 2hdc) (2dc, tr, ch1, tr, 2dc) (2hdc, sc)* repeat * 3 more times. Ss to first stitch to join. Cut and tie yarn. (48 stitches & 4 corner spaces)
