Granny Square Eight

This weeks crochet granny square is a mix of the Traditional Granny Square and The Cluster Square from last week. If you’re new to cluster stitches check out Granny Square Seven first.

This weekend has been the first weekend I’ve been able to sit outside in the sun all day long! The weather has been glorious here in Sussex. So for a change and to reflect my sunny mood I’ve used yellow and green for both the granny squares and the pattern drawing.

Materials

Yarn – I’m using stylecraft special dk

Hook – 4mm

Dmc = double magic circle

Ss = slip stitch

Ch = chain

Ch sp = chain space

Dc = double crochet

Cl st = cluster stitch

Rnd = round

Rnd 1: start with dmc, *cl st, ch3.* Repeat * 3 more times. Ss to 1st cl st. Ss to ch sp. (4 clusters, 4 chain spaces)

Rnd 2: starting in a ch sp. *cl st, ch3, cl st, ch2.* Repeat * in each ch sp. Ss to 1st cl st. Ss to ch sp. (8 clusters, 8 chain spaces)

Rnd 3: starting in the ch3 sp. *cl st, ch3, cl st, ch2, into the ch2 sp, 3dc, ch2.* Repeat * 3 more times. Ss to cl st. Ss to ch sp. (8 clusters, 12 double crochet, 12 chain spaces)

Rnd 4: starting in ch3 sp. *cl st, ch3, cl st, ch2, into ch2 sp, 3dc, ch1, into ch2 sp, 3dc, ch2.* Repeat * 3 more times. Ss to cl st. Cut and tie yarn. (8 clusters, 24 double crochet, 16 chain spaces)
