Popcorn Granny Square

A crochet square of popcorn stitches.

Welcome back to the Granny Square Series! This week we will be making the popcorn granny square. This unique looking square uses one of my favourite stitches to make, the popcorn stitch. The stitch is raised, giving the finished fabric a textured feel. I love running my hand across blankets with popcorn stitches.

Popcorn stitches (US Terms): make four double crochet. Take the hook out creating a large loop as you go. Insert hook front to back through the top of the first stitch. Hook the loop from the forth stitch and pull through. Pull yarn tight. YouTube search: ‘how to make a popcorn stitch?’
