Dew Drop Granny Square Pattern

This is one of my favourite granny square patterns, it’s a simple design but looks great when mixed in with the other squares! Its very similar to the mix and match granny square so if you like this square be sure to check that one out too,

Materials

DK yarn

4mm hook

Scissors

Written Pattern (US Terms)

For this pattern we will be using popcorn stitches, each popcorn stitch is made with 4 double crochets. If you are unfamiliar with popcorn stitches please see the demonstration in the video below.

Key

ss = slip stitch

ch = chain

ch sp = chain space

dc = double crochet

rnd = round

Rnd 1: To start make a double magic circle, into the circle crochet *1 popcorn stitch, ch4.* Repeat 3 more times. Pull the circle tight and ss into the first ch4 space to join. (4 popcorn stitches and 4 chain spaces)

Rnd 2: This is a traditional granny square round. Into the ch4 space, make a starting dc, ch2, 3dc. *Into the next ch4 space 3dc, ch2, 3dc* Repeat 2 more times. you are now back at your first corner, make 2dc into the 4ch space to complete the corner. Ss into the ch2 space to join. (24 stitches) 

Rnd 3: Starting in a corner space, make *1 popcorn stitch, ch4, 1 popcorn stitch, ch2, sk3, crochet between the stitches, 3dc, ch2, sk3.* Repeat 3 more times, ss into the ch4 corner space to join. (20 stitches, 12 chain spaces including the corners)

Rnd 4: This last round is a granny square round. make 3dc into the ch2 spaces and 3dc, ch2, 3dc into the corner spaces. (48 stitches)
